Bagdat Street is a must-see for anybody interested in visiting beautiful neighborhoods and learning more about Istanbul's civilized and bright side. 

This street is situated on Istanbul's Asian side and is one of the city's most beautiful and fashionable streets. This street's neighborhood is likewise a posh upper-class neighborhood. 

Bagdat Street is home to a number of shopping centers and multi-department stores; there are also many luxurious and elegant stores in Istanbul that display the most famous and luxurious local and international brands, as well as many restaurants and cafes with an elegant western character, in addition to some of the luxurious local character, on this street. The majority of the businesses and restaurants on this street are open nearly every day and stay open into the evening. Bagdat Street runs in one direction for 6 kilometers, nearly parallel to the Marmara Sea's shore, and is distinguished by convenient access to transit to and from it. 

History of Bagdat Street 

Bagdat Street's history dates back to the Byzantine and Ottoman periods, when it served as a connecting route between Constantinople and Anatolia, and was utilized for economic and military reasons. Its name, Baghdad Street, is attributed to Sultan Murad IV, who rebuilt the city in 1638. This roadway was adorned with fountains during the Ottoman period, and numerous mosques were constructed along it to assist visitors and arrivals. The royal palace was demolished and luxury timber chalets were constructed on the site. This Boulevard served as a summer retreat for the city's elite until the 1960s, when the chalets were destroyed and high-rise apartment complexes were constructed after the opening of the Bosphorus Bridge. 

Spending time on this street on October 29th is a lovely and unique experience, since it is the site of the cultural parade that takes place that evening. On the Asian side of Istanbul, this street is also utilized as a celebration hub, where people congregate to rejoice, dance, and sing. The ideal time to explore Bagdat Street is undoubtedly in the spring and early summer. 

Location of Bagdat Street 

Bagdat Street is in the Maltepe neighborhood on the Asian side, and its name is taken from Baghdad's name. This street is considered the European side of Istanbul's equivalent to the renowned Istiklal Street, and it is known for being constantly busy and lively throughout the week, with weekends and official holidays being probably the most beautiful days on the street. 

The Avenue is also home to some of the finest luxury automobile dealerships and financial institutions. A huge open-air retail center may also be found on this route. When you visit this street, you will note the blending of the current with the past, as well as the presence of old flat trees surrounding the beautiful stores offering the finest worldwide renowned brands, as well as some of the best restaurants offering the best meals. 

Bagdat Street was renowned in the 1960s as a location for rich young people to race their luxury automobiles and show off their money and sophistication, but owing to the frequent incidence of tragic accidents as a consequence of these activities, the phenomena was curtailed and permanently stopped. Bagdat Street is now regarded as one of the most popular hangout spots for young people, particularly on weekends. In the Bagdat region, transportation is not an issue since there are a number of options besides buses and taxis. A regional train runs parallel to the road and may transport you from one location to another in the area. There is also a historic commuter boat in the region, which connects the European side of the city with Istanbul's Princes' Islands.
