Explore Princes’ Islands in Istanbul!
The Princes' Islands (Turkish: Prens Adalari) are one of Istanbul's best-preserved natural regions and attractions. The banished Princes during the Byzantium period gave the islands their name. For both Istanbulites and visitors, the islands are one of the greatest attractions, weekend getaways, and Istanbul escapes. There are a total of 9 islands located across the coastlines of Maltepe and Kartal districts, on the Asian coasts, in the Marmara sea. They are all quite near to each other. The major Princes' Islands include Buyukada, Heybeliada, Kinaliada, Burgazada, Kasikadasi, and Sedefadasi. Greeks, Armenians, Jews, and few Syrian Christians make up the majority of the island's population. Buyukada and Heybeliada are two of the most popular, offering tourists a variety of activities and views.
Istanbul's Buyukada
The Princes' Islands are a favorite weekend destination for Istanbulites, particularly during the summer, when they may enjoy the beaches and other activities. Tourists come to the islands to see and experience the natural beauty, electric car excursions, seafood restaurants, hiking, and swimming possibilities. On weekends, the islands resemble a carnival, with large groups of happy people. Keep in mind that if you wish to visit the islands during the week or during the spring or fall seasons, you should plan your day excursion to the Princes' Islands on weekdays or during those seasons.
Because motor vehicles are not permitted on the island, it is an ideal location for anyone seeking a quiet day or night out. Electric cars are available for use on the island, or you may hire a bike and explore the island on your own.
Aya Yorgi Church
The Aya Yorgi Church (St. George's Church) is the most visited attraction on the Princes' Islands. This Orthodox church, perched atop the Buyukada's tallest hill, is a truly special and quiet location. The church was constructed in 1905. People write their wishes on a piece of paper and toss it into the box at the Aya Yorgi Church, or light candles for their desires. These are, of course, found in every church throughout the globe. Meanwhile, the Aya Yorgi Church has unique days when it is thought that if you visit the church on the 23rd of April or the 24th of September, your desires will be granted and you will be cured. If the wishes are granted, guests will return to the church with sugar and olive oil.
When is the best time to visit the Princes Islands?
There are also a number of day excursions available via approved travel agencies. It may be guided excursions, overnight stays, or boat tickets to the Princes Islands. This is a fantastic choice, particularly if you are a first-time visitor. You'll avoid the bother of booking tickets, finding a spot among the throng, and finding lodging. As a result, we suggest that you keep an eye on the Princes Islands trip discounts and specials. You will save money in this manner. The ideal season to visit Istanbul's Islands, in our opinion, is spring, when nature is at its finest and greenest. However, you may visit the islands in the summer to fully appreciate their potential, which includes grilled fish restaurants, delicious handmade ice cream, and more. The Princes' Islands have plenty to offer visitors at any time of year. Check out Iamistanbul for more natural places in Istanbul, and make sure you become one with nature in Istanbul!
