How is The Weather in Istanbul?

Istanbul is best visited in the spring and autumn. Those are the months when the weather is at its best. Does this mean you should avoid going to Istanbul in the summer or winter? Definitely not! Istanbul is lovely throughout the year, yet each season in Istanbul has its own set of benefits and drawbacks. Allow me to draw out a rough sketch so you may choose the season that best suits your requirements or preferences.

When Should I Visit Istanbul?

The greatest time to visit Istanbul is from April to May, when the days are longer, dryer, and brighter, but not as hot as they are in the summer. Temperatures range from 12 to 25 degrees Celsius, with a few brief showers thrown in for good measure. These months are often devoid of large crowds of visitors.

During the summer months of June, July, and August, the crowds surrounding the sites in the ancient city may be overwhelming, made worse by the hot and humid weather. April and May, as well as mid-September to the end of October, are the best months to visit Istanbul. The tulip festival, which takes place in April, brings the whole city to life.

Summer in Istanbul

Summer lasts from mid-July until mid-September and is hot and humid. In August, the average daily high temperature is about 28 degrees Celsius (80 degrees Fahrenheit), with peaks topping 30 degrees Celsius (82 F).

While most Istanbul locals go to the islands or the coastlines in the summer to escape the heat, the summer months witness a massive inflow of tourists. Expect lengthier lineups and take the necessary precautions to prevent sunburn (and air-conditioners). The finest part about this season is the ideal weather for a Bosphorus cruise.

Winter in Istanbul

Winters are mild, with typical daytime temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees Celsius (48 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit) (54 F). Snow showers are rare, although rain is a typical occurrence (see statistics below).

"So, what are the advantages then?" you may wonder. Okay, you can save money on hotels, take a more leisurely tour of all the tourist sights, and enjoy the year-end events and festivals.

Spring in Istanbul

Spring in Istanbul normally arrives in mid-April if the astrological spring begins on March 21. Rain showers are less expected as the weather heats up throughout the day and cools off at night. The average high temperature would be between 18 and 27 degrees Celsius (65 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit) (81 F). The following is a summary of the previous year's activities.

Another advantage of visiting Istanbul in the spring is the opportunity to see the city's and Mother Nature's rebirth. The region becomes more bright and colorful with the reopening of the terraces (with the blossoms of the flowers in general, and the famous tulips in particular).

Autmn in Istanbul

Autumn, often known as autumn, lasts through the end of October, and in some cases, until the middle of November. For the most part, temperatures have recovered to human levels (23 C or 70 F), but be prepared for surprises! The weather may swing from hot and dry one day to considerably colder (15 C or 60 F) the next, with short but heavy rain storms in between.

Overall, along with spring, this is the greatest time to visit Istanbul.

The Best Time to Visit Istanbul Is During The Day

In the summer, the best time to see Istanbul's many attractions is just when they open or later in the day, although there are seldom any queues or crowds in the winter. Summer, on the other hand, brings hot weather, enormous people, and lengthy lines at the entrance. Weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) are often busier, although most attractions have their own closing days and hours of operation, so check before you go.
