Pera Museum! An Excellent Museum in Taksim
Pera Museum is located in Beyoglu district near Istiklal Street and close to Taksim Square in Istanbul.
The Pera Museum was established by the Suna Foundation and İnan Kıraç in 2005. The museum is located in the historic building of the former Bristol Hotel, which was designed and built in 1893 by the architect Achille Manoussos. It was renovated between 2003 and 2005 by the architect Sinan Genim, which preserved the facade of the building and turned the interior into a modern and fully equipped museum.
The Pera Museum hosts regular international exhibitions, in addition to holding permanent collections of Orientalist paintings, Anatolian weights, and measures, Kutahya tiles, and ceramics.
Anatolian Weights and Measures
The Anatolian Weights and Measures collection initiated by Sona and Inan Kerak in the 1980s has grown rapidly over the years through the purchase of items collected by some antique collectors as well as regular purchases from other sources both in Turkey and abroad, and it is now one of the most prominent groups of its kind in Turkey.
Today this group consists of more than eight thousand objects dating from prehistory to the present day used in Anatolia. These include the main types of scales and measuring instruments used to measure weights, length, and volume in every area from land measurement to trade, architecture to jewelry making, and shipping to pharmacy.

Kütahya Group for Tiles and Ceramics
The beginnings of the Suna and İnan Kıraç Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics Collection date back to the 1980s, when it was formed by Suna Kıraç's desire, and has grown over the years to become one of the most exquisite collections of its kind.
Today the collection consists of more than a thousand exquisite pieces representing different periods from the 18th century through the 20th century in particular.
It shows the development of Kütahya tiles and ceramics, a creative field of Ottoman culture that until recently did not attract the attention and recognition it originally deserved.
Orientalist Paints Group
The Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation's Orientalists group is one of the most elaborate groups in Turkey. This great collection brings together important works by European artists inspired by the Ottoman world and the regional geography of Turkey, as well as works by Ottoman artists, and how they influenced each other from the seventeenth century to the early nineteenth century.
The collection offers a vast visual panorama of the last two centuries of the Ottoman Empire, and also includes Osman Hamdi's work and his most famous paint, "The Tortoise Trainer". Since the group places special emphasis on Ottoman Orientalist art, it maintains an exceptional position. The Pera Museum organizes long-term thematic exhibitions of this group in the Sevgi and Erdoğan Gönül Gallery.
