It is situated on the Asian side of Istanbul. Bagdat Street stretches for 9 kilometers from the Bostanci neighborhood to the Goztepe neighborhood in the Kadikoy district. It was named after the route used by Ottoman Sultan Murad IV on his way to the Battle of Baghdad. It became one of Istanbul's most wealthy avenues during the reign of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamit II.
