Cihangir Neighbourhood
Istiklal Street, a short walk from Taksim Square, was formerly home to artists and authors who couldn't afford Beyolu. There are several cafés, cocktail bars, restaurants and galleries in Cihangir. Built in commemoration of Suleiman the Great's two sons who died at a young age, the Cihangir Mosque in the region was reconstructed in 1889 after being demolished in 1559. Museums in Beyoglu
At the SALT Beyoglu Museum of Modern Art, located on stiklal Street, you can get away from it all while still enjoying some culture and art.
