Sabiha Gokcen Airport
Sabiha Gokcen Airport is the second airport in Istanbul which was constructed in the district called Pendik. It took the name of Sabiha Gokcen who was the first woman fighter pilot in the world and also Turkey’s first woman pilot. It is the second busiest airport in the country. The airport has a capacity of 25 million passengers per year.

The airport was opened in January 2001. It is located on the Anatolian side of the city in Kurtkoy. It is 30 kilometers away from Kadikoy, 40 kilometers to Taksim Square, and 30 kilometers to Gebze. You can use the airport’s passenger service besides taxi and bus.

The airport is located on the European side of Istanbul in Çatalca, above Lake Buyukcekmece. It has been providing service as the first international registered private airport in Turkey since 1992.
Hezarfen Airport, which has been mainly serving for general aviation and administrative flights, took its name from a 17th Ottoman scholar Hezarfen Ahmed Celebi who flown from Galata Tower to Uskudar, around 6 kilometers.
Besides the service to civil and general aviation, the airport hosts a lot of activity to Rock’n Coke which is held every autumn in particular. Therefore, it is also called Hezarfen Hobbyland.
New Istanbul Airport
The council of ministers asserted that Istanbul Ataturk Airport has a lack of capacity, because of that it was decided that a new airport should be constructed. The New Airport went public on 29th October 2018. Also; the third airfield of the airport, a state guesthouse, and a mosque were opened in June 2019. The hotel inside the terminals has 451 rooms in total, with beautiful cafes, bars, and restaurants. Do not miss the opportunity while you are in there!
