Galata Tower
The history of the tower dates back to the Byzantine Empire. The tower was built by command of the Byzantine Empire, Justiniaos in 507-508 AD. The Genoese rebuilt the structure in Beyoglu, Istanbul in 1348. Galata Tower, the museum is one of the best places you must visit in the district. You will never forget the view you see from the top of the tower. Do not forget to immortalize the moment by taking pictures!
Dolmabahçe Palace
Dolmabahçe Palace’s construction, which was called Bezmiâlem Vâlide Sultan Mosque, was started by the orders of the Bezmialem Valide Sultan, who is the mother of the Sultan Abdulmecit, and was finished in his son’s reign, after Valide Sultan’s death. It cost a great deal of money at that time. During Sultan Abdulmecid’s reign, Sultan and his family had lived there. The Palace was used as the main center of the Ottoman Empire for a long time. You will be fascinated by its architectural beauty.
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who was the founder of the Republic of Turkey, used the palace during summers and also wrote some of his most important works there. He also spent his last days in the palace, he died on November 10, 1938.
Taksim Square
Taksim Square took its name from Taksim Maksem. It is where Galata and Beyoglu water was divided into two parts in the past. You must take the nostalgic train, the one you probably see in postcards, and sightsee the district via it!
Republic Monument
The Republic Monument is one of the remarkable constructions in the district since 1928. It signifies the formation of the Turkish Republic.
Istiklal Street
You can arrive at Istiklal Street by nostalgic train. The street is full of life, you can find anything you want in there. It is alive 24/7! There are many restaurants where you can taste delicious Turkish food, and also shopping places from which you can buy gifts for your loved ones and of course yourself!
