Description
The Ashkenazi Synagogue, founded in 1909 by Ashkenazi Jews, is located near Galata Tower and is the only Ashkenazi Synagogue active today.
The architectural structure of the Ashkenazi Synagogue, with its brightly colored wide dome decorated with stars and magnificent chandeliers brought from Vienna, resembles a typical Ottoman pavilion.
The synagogue, in which the motifs of Islamic architecture were embroidered, continues to worship and religious ceremonies, adhering to the Ashkenazi traditions. The synagogue is open to visitors for morning prayers on weekdays and Sabbath prayers on Saturday mornings.
